Dr Seuss Books Cease Publishing for Racial Undertones

DR. SEUSS is a cornerstone for American children's books. I can remember the first time I read "Green Eggs and Ham," or 'Cat in the Hat,' but now - as 2021 goes, the author has been called out for previous publications with racial undertones.

The official Facebook account for Dr. Seuss did say that they will cease publication of six titles, because of the way they portray people, some citing that they are indeed racist.

The following was posted from the official Facebook account.

So after SO many years, where did this all stem from? One Virginia school district took action and decided to ban Dr Seuss books from the annual "Read Across America Day." After looking deeper into it, Dr. Seuss had a racist past of publishing antisemitic work during his study at Dartmouth College, drawing black boxers as gorillas and portraying Jewish stereotypes of being stingy with money.

There was even a study done, researching over 50 Dr. Seuss titles, citing 43 of them having racial stereotypes depicted.

In Ashburn, Va., the Loudoun County Public Schools disassociated Dr. Seuss with 'Read Across America Day,' claiming his works should not be cited for children, given his colorful history and content matter.

Today is the birthday of the famed author. But what do you think, should Dr. Seuss be cancelled?
