13 Celebs Who Are Superstitious

Whether you’re like Taylor Swift and have a “thing” for the number 13, listen to Britney Spears for good luck like Megan Fox, or wear a raccoon teeth necklace for positivity like Steven Tyler (remember the quaint ol’ days of the rabbit’s foot?), the collection of stars below certainly have, uh, collections of their own that they use to ward off any bad energy.

Check out 13 celebs’ superstitions in honor of Friday The 13th below!

1. Taylor Swift

13 is Taylor’s lucky number. “I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first #1 song had a 13-second intro,” she explained to MTV back in 2009. “Every time I’ve won an award I’ve been seated in either the 13th seat, the 13th row, the 13th section or row M, which is the 13th letter.”

2. Ariana Grande

The “Break Free” singer once admitted on Twitter: "I used to eat donuts for good luck before auditions when I was little.”

3. Lady Gaga

Gaga is superstitious about sex. She once said in a radio interview: “I have weird superstitions about sex. If you're not having sex with someone who really cares about you or who really loves you they can screw up your energy.”

4. Chris Martin

The Coldplay frontman reportedly won’t go onstage before brushing his teeth. "There are about 18 things I have to do before I can go out to perform – most of them are too ridiculous to repeat," he said via the Independent. "One is I have to brush my teeth before I go on stage, otherwise I just don't feel smart enough."

5. Kesha

While explaining the inspiration behind her song “Supernatural,” Kesha admitted in an interview with Ryan Seacrest that she’s been intimate with a ghost. “It’s about experiences with the supernatural... but in a sexy way,” she said. “I had a couple of experiences with the supernatural. I don’t know his name! He was a ghost! I’m very open to it.”

6. Steven Tyler

The Aerosmith frontman wears a necklace comprised of the teeth of a raccoon he caught when he was a child. “I wear it for good luck,” he told Parade magazine.

7. Keith Richards

He requires a shepherd’s pie at every Rolling Stones show, and he insists he be the first person to break the crust. If anyone else cuts into the pie first, Keith reportedly insists a new one be reproduced before him, according to Rolling Stone.

8. Paris Hilton

Paris always makes a wish at 11:11.

9. Heidi Klum

The supermodel and Project Runway host carries a bag of baby teeth around with her for good luck. “Well, I don’t like advertise it,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “No, I did show somebody once and it fell under the seat and the flight attendant came over and he’s like, ”Can I help you?” and I was like, ”Yeah, I’m just looking for my teeth.” And he’s like, ”Oh.” I had to find it — it’s not good luck if I leave the tooth on the plane.

10. Megan Fox

Megan’s been transparent about her belief in the paranormal several times in the past, and it even extends to the soundtrack she listens to whenever she flies. According to The Mirror, she said, "I know for a fact it's not my destiny to die listening to a Britney Spears album. So I always put that on in my iPhone when I'm flying because it won't crash as long as I've got Britney on.”

11. Missy Elliot

In 2013, Missy revealed to Rolling Stone that she has a superstition about black cats crossing her path. "If you believe a black cat is bad luck, people think you’re crazy, but plenty of times if I see a black cat down my street, I turn around and go the other way," the rapper admitted.

12. Serena Williams

The tennis star and fashion designer is so superstitious when it comes to tennis, she will always tie her shoes in a specific manner, wear the same pair of socks throughout a tournament run and bounce the ball five times before her first serve.

13. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer has admitted that she must board a plane with her right foot first and tap the outside of the plane for good luck.
