Actor and comedian John Witherspoon, known for his role as the dad on Ice Cube’s Friday, and Robert ‘GrandDad’ Freeman on The Boondocks has died the website Deadline has reported. A veteran comedian who’s worked with many of the greatest comedians became known first in the 1980s as a cast member of Robert Townsends Hollywood Shuffle, then in the 90s as Willie Jones, the father of Craig (Ice Cube) in the cult hit Friday. He continue this success with the hit animated series The Boondocks a show developed from Aaron McGruders comic strip of the same name. He will be missed!
