CenterPoint Investigating Issue That Billed Some Customers More Than $200K

According to the Houston Chronicle, a number of CenterPoint Energy customers received shockingly high bills earlier this week, some for more than $200,000.

Roughly 27,000 CenterPoint customers received shocking emails alerting them that they owed $202,102.16 for natural gas. This surely added some major stress to a week where Texans have had all the stress they can handle.

The company released the below statement to calm anyone who received one of these messages:

“Customers who received an email notification showing an amount due of $202,102.16 for natural gas should disregard and not pay it as they don’t owe this amount. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This was only an email message error, not a billing error.”
