Lil Tecca just dropped his brand-new single, and it's already a heavy contender for "song for the summer."

On Friday, May 30, the rapper from Queens, N.Y. released his latest song "OWA OWA" via Republic Records. On the track produced by Rio Leyva and Taz Taylor, Tecca raps about girls wasting his time while constantly thinking about the only one who keeps him sane. He delivers his catchy bars over a sample of The Buggles' 1980 classic "Video Killed the Radio Star." Within hours after the song dropped, fans have already called it the "song of the summer," with some saying it could be the "song of the year."

"This new Lil Tecca song might actually be song of the summer…." one X user said.

Tecca has been on an incredible run since he signed with Republic in 2019. He's dropped his debut mixtape, We Love You Tecca, and four albums, including last year's PLAN A LP. "OWA OWA" is Lil Tecca's second single of the year. He kicked off 2025 when his song "Dark Thoughts." Both tracks are expected to appear on his fifth studio album, Dopamine. Tecca hasn't confirmed a release date yet, but it's expected to arrive later this year.

Lil Tecca's new song sits at the top of iHeartRadio's Rap Rising playlist. It arrived on the same day artists like GoldLink, Luh Tyler, EBK Jaaybo, PlaqueBoyMax, and Molly Santana dropped brand new projects. Stream the playlist up top and scroll below for more new music.
