Stephen A. Smith said he's "salty" after former First Lady Michelle Obama compared ESPN to reality television.
During a recent episode of her podcast "IMO," Obama said tuning into the sports networks was "like watching Real Housewives of Atlanta," adding that Smith was "just like every other talk show host."
âItâs the same drama, and theyâre yelling at each other, and they donât get along, you know?â the former first lady said on hwe podcast.
Following her comments, Smith blasted Obama on his podcast, saying he "respectfully" disagreed with her take on the sports network.
âMichelle Obama, I wanna take this opportunity to remind you that while you are revered by me personally, and I truly, truly mean that with the greatest sincerity, Iâm still a bit salty at you,â the First Take host said on "The Stephen A. Smith Show."
Smith went on to accuse Obama of âsort of blackmailing us emotionally into trying to compel us to vote one way or anotherâ in the 2024 presidential election.
ââWhen you were campaigning on behalf of the former Vice President Kamala Harris, you said a vote for Trump was a vote against you and a vote against yâall as women,â he said. âI want to say for the recordâI took major offense to that.â
The sports commentator noted that he thinks the former first lady could win against Trump or any other GOP candidate in a presidential election, but he warned Obama that some Americans prioritize other issues over women's rights.
âFor some people, itâs all about the economy. For others, itâs all about national security. For some people, itâs immigration,â he said. âFor some people, itâs safety in the streets of America, long before they think about pro-choice or pro-life.â
