Kendrick Lamar has become the most awarded rap artist in Grammy history.
On Sunday night, February 1, the 68th annual Grammy Awards went down at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Before the show, Lamar had won the award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for "luther" featuring SZA and Best Rap Song for "tv off" featuring Lefty Gunplay. He also won alongside Clipse for Best Rap Performance thanks to their collaboration, "Chains & Whips." Those awards had him tied with JAY-Z, who has 25 Grammy wins. During the live broadcast, Queen Latifah and Doechii, who won the award last year, presented Lamar with Best Rap Album for GNX.
"It's Hip-Hop as usual," Lamar said during his acceptance speech. "It's an honor to be here these are my brothers... Tyler...Clipse... what's pusha.... what up Malice...Every time I tell you this. Hip-Hop is always gonna be right here. We gonna be in these suits, we gonna be looking good, we gonna be having our folks with us, we gonna be having the culture with us."
Kendrick Lamar officially has 27 Grammys, as of this report. Last year, he won the awards for Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year for his hit "Not Like Us." He won multiple awards for the grimiest diss track of his beef with Drake.
Congratulations to Kendrick Lamar!
