If you love fashion and culture, then African Fashion Week (AFW) is where you want to be this week.
As you can see on their social media (@AFWHouston2018) there is much Melanin Magic to bring to the runway and that's exactly what AFW is doing throughout the 28th of October 2018.
The culturally influenced fashion week returnsthis fall with a series of signature events, runwayshows, beauty demos, and marketplaces --including the socially savvy Art, Wine &Culture(hosted by fashion model PhyliciaAlavrez), the“ankara-lious” 4 Seasons FashionShow (hosted by Jonathan Martin of Fox 26News and social media personality ChikaIzuakor, Afro Culture Pop-Up Shop (powered byBosses in Heels),"Wakanda Is This?!" SilentAfterparty, and the highly anticipated 5thAnnual Kitoko Fashion Show grand finale,hosted by HBO Insecure star Sarunas Jacksonand rising star lifestyle maven Lulu of Akellochic.These events are carefully paired with excitingperformances, exclusive VIP events, and varioussocial activities.
A percentage of proceeds for African Fashion Week Houston 2018 will benefit WeLeadInternational and Friends of Africa foundation -- two Houston area based non-profit organizationsthat continue to utilize its platform for the advancement and promotion of economic, educationaland social impact in Africa and underserved communities locally. Official sponsors for AfricanFashion Week 2018 include Wazobia African Market, Cafe Abuja, Emergent Business Solutions,Dripping Springs Vodka, Tilford Winery, Weds Blog, and Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant.
This year's lineup will feature fashion designersfrom across the globe who will showcasebetween 10 to 15 original pieces.
