Elementary School Faces Backlash Over "Escaping Slavery" Game

NORTH CAROLINA hosted the NBA All-Star game and of CIAA weekend as usual; but who would've thought - we're still this insensitive in 2019.

An elementary school in Wilmington, N.C. thought it would be a good idea to have an "Escaping Slavery" game where students receive a punch, such as to a restaurant's loyalty card, every time they were "caught" as runaway slaves. After the fourth punch, they'd be sent back to the plantation to work as slaves and be severely punished.

Tell me, how many people looked at this before it was approved? And by WHOM?

Codington Elementary School will probably find another way to teach about the Underground Railroad, but what do you think? Is it an effective learning tool or completely offensive?
