If you keep wondering why your boyfriend keeps listening to a remake of "Hot in Herre" by Nelly, it's because the Dallas' rapper, Erica Banks' song "Buss It" went viral over the weekend with the Tik-Tok introduced #BussItChallenge.
Saturday morning I noticed it trending on Twitter - and knew of Banks' and the song already, since she is signed to Carl Crawford's Houston based 1501 Certified Entertainment, which is widely recognized as the label financier and original finding camp of Megan thee Stallion. Also, Crawford made headlines last summer when the announcement of a lawsuit against 1501 was announced by Megan on her Instagram live.
This challenge has been going on for a few days now, but as anything - it took some time to heat up. The single itself was released early 2020 with a visual to assist in June.
Erica came on the scene as what most people would call "a copycat" version of Megan - but it seems that this time, with the success of this song, she's carving her own lane.
Have you done your version of the #BussIt challenge yet? I probably should, since she sent me a customized version of the song ;) Tag us in your videos!
