Dave Chappelle Attacked by Armed Man, Chris Rock Jokes "Is That Will Smith"
There's no other way I would expect comedians to handle this situation - other than joking about a similar situation that happened on national television just a month ago.
Tuesday Night at the Hollywood Bowl, comedian great, Dave Chappelle was attacked during his standup by an armed man, whom later was detained by Chappelle's entourage. There was no statement as to why the man chose to try and rush the stage.
But afterwards, it was Chris Rock's comment that immediately shifted the mood. THANKFULLY, everyone was okay (except for the assailant - obviously), but how else would you expect seasoned comedians to handle this type of event?
You can see in a following posted video - the attacker was understandably detained, I'm assuming by Chappelle's crew, as he is seen being loaded into an ambulance.
My opinion: Why would you think Chappelle don't have security with him?
What was this man allegedly trying to accomplish.
Also: Chris Rock being there - just showed the gold of necessity of comedians, making this potentially harmful situation, into a classic moment.
Chris Rock was the speculation of the world in March when he was slapped live on the Oscars by actor Will Smith, for joking about his wife Jada-Pinkett Smith.
Smith was then banned from The Academy for ten years.
