Legendary comedian and actor Sinbad (A Different World, The Sinbad Show, countless comedy specials) suffered a major stroke in October 2020 and his prospects for recovery were uncertain. The ischemic stroke was a result of a blood clot that traveled from his heart to his brain. After an initial surgery, he developed a second blood clot, then a brain bleed, and eventually had to be put into a medically induced coma and placed on a ventilator. Things were looking bleak and it has been a very long road, but Sinbad's family has shared a very promising update and a new website for those who'd like to follow his progress.
Sinbad is fighting hard and has already beaten the odds (only a 30% survival rate) to get to this point. He is doing the work to learn to walk again. The family shared his current attitude in his own words:
"I am not done. I will not stop fighting until I can walk across the stage again.”
To help raise money for his recovery, Sinbad and family have authorized a limited edition action figure of Sinbad from his 1991 comedy special Sinbad: Brain Damaged. You can check that out, along with updates from the family below.
