33 year old Brandy Mosley went missing after jumping in water trying to rescue her 4-year-old child who was having trouble swimming, officials said. Her son was wearing protective water wings however while he played in the sand on the edge of the gulf the waves snatched him into the water. Brandy and a family friend went in after him but the friend the son were the only ones that made it back on shore. ABC 13 reported a witness named Laura Blackburn saying "What's really sad is seeing the rescue plane going back and forth."Looking and looking. We all looked for an hour or two, a couple of hours just looking for her." Residents said the waves are deceptively dangerous and that they know when it's safe and when they have to stay away. "They just don't understand how dangerous it is to these people out here," said Ann Lawrence, who lives in Bolivar. "A lot of them are out-of-town vacationers. They just don't understand how bad it is out here." The Galveston County Sheriff's Office found Mosley's body this morning near Crystal Beach.
