Texas School Named After 'Hidden Figures' Mathematician


"Residents of a small North Texas town recently voted to name a new school after Katherine G. Johnson, the focus of the biographical drama film "Hidden Figures."

Johnson was a NASA mathematician who calculated flight trajectories for Project Mercury, the first U.S. human spaceflight program. The program's efforts would eventually send the first American astronaut, Alan Shepard, into space. " Author Fernando Ramirez- Chron.

According to Chron, The Greenville ISD Board of Trustees will name the upcoming elementary school as the Katherine G. Johnson STEM Academy.

This is truly a great honor for Katherine G. Johnson. In the movie Taraji P. Henson depicted her in a awesome way and she truly deserves it.
